Michael Apted (10.2.1942 - 7.1.2021) je britanski filmski i televizijski režiser, producent, scenarist i glumac. Karijeru režisera je započeo na regionalnoj TV-stanici Granada Television gdje je sudjelovao u projektu koji će postati hvaljena serija dokumentarnih filmova pod nazivom Seven Up!. Apted je osim dokumentarnih snimao i igrane filmove, uglavnom socijalno angažirane tematike. Režirao je i prve tri epizode hvaljene TV-serije Stari Rim.
