Harold Isaacs

Harold Robert Isaacs (1910–1986) adalah seorang jurnalis dan ilmuwan politik Amerika. Isaacs datang ke Tiongkok pada 1930 dan ikut terlibat dalam politik sayap kiri di Shanghai dan menulis The Tragedy of the Chinese Revolution, tentang Revolusi Tiongkok 1925-27, yang mula-mula diterbitkan dengan sebuah pendahuluan dari Leon Trotsky. Ia menyoroti Perang Dunia II di Asia Tenggara dan Tiongkok untuk Newsweek Magazine. Pada 1953, ia bergabung dengan departemen ilmu politik di Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Pada tahun-tahun berikutnya, ia menerbitkan Scratches on our Minds: American Images of China and India, American Jews in Israel, The New World of Negro Americans, dan lain-lain. Pada 1980, ia kembali ke Tiongkok dengan istrinya, Viola, dan menulis sebuah catatan dari kunjungan tersebut, Re-Encounters in China.^[1]

Pada 1950, ia meraih sebuah Guggenheim Fellowship.

Ia dan istrinya memiliki dua anak, jurnalis Arnold R. Isaacs dan Deborah Shipler.^[1]
