Bunny Wailer, joka tunnettiin myös nimellä Bunny Livingston, (oik. Neville O'Riley Livingston, 10. huhtikuuta 1947 Kingston, Jamaika – 2. maaliskuuta 2021 Kingston, Jamaika[1]) oli jamaikalainen reggaemuusikko ja lauluntekijä sekä yksi The Wailers -yhtyeen alkuperäisjäsenistä.[2]
Elämäkerta
Bunny Wailer ja Bob Marley kasvoivat samassa perheessä, vaikka he eivät olleet veljeksiä. Bunnyn isä Thaddeus ”Toddy” Livingston eli Bobin äidin Cedella Bookerin kanssa, ja heillä oli myös tytär, Pearl Livingston. Wailer perusti Marleyn ja Peter Toshin kanssa The Wailers -yhtyeen vuonna 1963. Hänen roolinsa yhtyeen laulajana ja lauluntekijänä jäi jonkin verran Marleyn ja Toshin varjoon. Wailerin 1960-luvulla yhtyeelle tekemät kappaleet olivat gospel- ja Curtis Mayfield -vaikutteisia.[2]
Wailer jätti The Wailersin vuonna 1973 ja ryhtyi soolouralle. Hän levytti niin omia kappaleitaan kuin myös versioitaan vanhoista Wailersin kappaleista. Hänelle myönnettiin vuosina 1990, 1994 ja 1996 Grammy-palkinto vuoden parhaasta reggae-albumista. Wailer on uskonnoltaan rastafari.[2]
